As some of you know, my brother Noel is a fan of online games. He particularly loves playing online casinos that he said reminded him when we were young. You see my parents then where into this kind of plays. Every night, they usually go to the casino just to play slot or poker. There are also times when they don’t have enough money to play; they just play poker inside our house with my aunts. And because we can see them playing while inside the house, our little minds immediately got the tricks on how to play poker. That started it all. My siblings and I usually play poker with my cousins and we have play money on our side as a proof of our payment. I really enjoyed it then because of the play money I used to get from winning. But of course, when we grew up everything changed.

Now, most of us don’t play poker anymore except for my brother Noel who has been addicted to it again since he got an internet connection and discovered downloading casinos online. Oh well, maybe in time he will get over it too.

I’m currently looking for a security system that my Aunt needs for her house. You see, she has a big house that finished its construction just a month ago and with that there are still some bare spaces in the house and some exteriors that need to be secured. One of each is the main gate of her mansion where it doesn’t have any double lock feature or at least a perimeter camera to secure who’s coming in and coming out in her lot. She really needs something like that now especially because some of her neighbors were telling her that there were some individuals lurking around the house.

If you’re looking for pool covers you better read this post a little further. You see, my Aunt Cel asked me to find some pool covers for her two fabulous pools in her newly constructed house. Apparently, she never thought she needed those things in her swimming pools but because the pools where located on the garden area, many leaves falls in the pool causing major dirt on the water.lol!

Checking out the Kid's Locker

I was in my son’s school when I noticed their lockers. I felt a reminiscing feeling about my childhood, the time when I was still in my elementary days. I remembered having my own locker as well. Lockers for kids then where always metallic and rusty, unfortunately, our school administration didn’t really took the time checking them before assigning them to us. Considering that those kids lockers were included on our tuition fees as miscellaneous expense.

Anyways, while looking at their locker, I thought of opening my son’s niche. I got his key in his bag and check what’s inside. The moment I opened it, I saw lots of clays inside. They are used clays that he played with while staying in school. I think most of them also were those played inside their classroom during classes. I was expecting to see his books and papers inside his lockers but apparently there were not there.

Hmmm.. Maybe they put them inside their classroom cabinets where there would be an easy access of each in case they need them. Though I can’t see the essence of the childrens locker if it only clays in it. Oh well, at least my son’s locker is in clean and in good condition. :)

I’ve been chatting with a friend last night when she suddenly disappears from the chat room. I called her this morning and asked her if she was fine. I’m currently in search for nursing scrubs uniforms for my sister in law. You see, she just had her caregiver course a few months ago and with that she was able to get a job in a hospital near their place. Yup! My mom is nuts. She bought this tiny house on the beach mostly because, well…it was on the beach. She didn’t think about the fact that it was practically falling apart or that it needed to be gutted before it was inhabitable at all. That’s why we’ve spent the last two years watching and helping her renovate it on her own dime one brick and plank at a time. It looks really great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s been more than a hassle getting it together. What You Can Do Before School

Preparing your child for school before his first day can greatly reduce any separation anxiety your child may feel when you leave. Here are some ways to familiarize your child with his new environment:

• Introduce your child ahead of time to common school activities, such as drawing pictures or storytelling.

• Visit your child's classroom a few times before school starts to familiarize her with the space.

• Have your child meet his teacher.

Don't minimize the importance of easing your fears as well as your child's. If you feel guilty or worried about leaving her at school, your child will probably sense that. The more calm and assured you are, the more confident your child will be.

To prepare yourself for the upcoming tear-filled good-bye:

• Ask your child's teacher what her procedure is when children are crying for their parents. Make sure a school staff member is ready to help your child with the transfer from your care to the classroom.

• Find out how the school structures its daily schedule. Many preschools begin with a daily ritual, such as "circle time" (when teachers and children talk about what they did the day before, and that day's activities), to ease the move from home to school.

Tips for Tear-Free Goodbyes

Saying goodbye on that first day can be the hardest moment for parents and children. Here are five tips on how to ease the separation anxiety.

• Reintroduce the teacher to your child. Allow them to form an initial relationship. Make it clear that you trust the teacher and are at ease with her watching your child.

• Bring a friend from home. Ask the teacher whether your child can bring along a stuffed animal to keep in her cubby in case she needs comforting. It shouldn't be her favorite one, though, because there's no guarantee it will come home in one piece. Other favorite choices include a family picture, a special doll, or a favorite blanket.

• When it's time to go, make sure to say good-bye to your child. Never sneak out. As tempting as it may be, leaving without saying good-bye to your child risks her trust in you.

• Once you say good-bye, leave promptly. A long farewell scene might only serve to reinforce a child's sense that preschool is a bad place.

• Express your ease with leaving. Some parents wave from outside the classroom window or make a funny good-bye face.

• Don't linger. The longer you stay, the harder it is. Let your child know that you'll be there to pick her up, and say "See you later!" once she's gotten involved in an activity.

• Create your own ritual. One of the moms in Shanon Powers's class, in Kansas City, Missouri, says goodbye to her son the same way every day: She kisses him on the lips and gives him a butterfly kiss (her eyelashes on his cheek), and then they rub noses and hug. • Consider a reward system.< Linda Roos, of Scottsdale, Arizona, gave her kindergartner his own calendar. If he went to class without putting up a fuss, she put a smiley face on the calendar (otherwise, he got a sad face). On Friday, if he had five smiley faces, she made him a treasure hunt as a treat.

Being away from home for the first time isn't easy, so send your child off with a discreet little memento to help him handle it better.

• Leave the lovey at home: Get a T-shirt made with a picture of her Woofie or Teddy. $18.

• A pic is worth a thousand words: Tuck one away inside his cubby or hang a photo key chain on his backpack zipper.

• Lunch-box love notes are a great way to let your child know you're thinking of her while she's at school.

5 Steps to Homework Success

Your child is at the beginning of a long-term relationship with studying -- and you're involved in it too. If you look at this as a process, one where you'll be introducing positive habits, you'll soon be on the path to more productive, peaceful, and pleasant (really!) homework sessions

Teach Consistency

Barring schedule-busters like after-school activities, your child should try to do her homework at the same time every day. "Without a routine, it's too easy to put off," says Jeanne Shay Schumm, PhD, author of How to Help Your Child with Homework. In figuring out the optimal time, consider the family schedule and your child's temperament. Most kids need a chance to decompress after school, and many work more efficiently following physical activity. In fact, research shows that exercise can actually increase a child's concentration.

Once you've nailed the time, create a dedicated study space. Having a consistent spot helps kids switch into study mode. But forget about the conventional wisdom of a desk in your child's room. In early elementary school, it's better to set things up in a central location so you're around to help if needed. Make room on the kitchen or dining room table for him to stretch out with books and papers. And keep supplies at the ready; otherwise, you're inviting procrastination -- the number of minutes spent searching for a pencil can easily turn into hours!

Dial Down Distractions

One way to provide a quiet environment is by making study time a family affair. If possible, have older siblings do their work at the same time, while you sit nearby with "homework" of your own such as bill-paying, reading, catching up on e-mail, or folding laundry. If you seem engaged by whatever you're doing, your kid will likely catch the vibe. Making a rule that the TV/video games stay off until everyone in the family is finished will keep your child focused and on task.

Aim for Independence

Grade-school kids will usually require at least some assistance. But before you decide how much help to offer, check with your child's teacher. Most prefer that kids work mainly on their own so that homework can be used as a gauge of progress. That means restraining yourself from correcting your child's spelling or figuring out the math problem for him.

On the other hand, reading his work over and challenging him to find the three misspelled words you discovered is a good way to get him into the habit of checking over his stuff.

It's also never too early to teach the value of research: Demonstrate how to find answers in reference books like dictionaries, online, and in atlases. Or look for real-world solutions. The more you foster the idea of homework as a time for independent exploration, the more kids are going to enjoy learning.

Discourage Perfectionism

Striving to get things right is admirable, but make sure your child knows that it is impossible to be perfect. If she's driving herself crazy with self-criticism, go over each assignment and agree on how long she should spend -- say 10 minutes -- and help her stick to that schedule. If necessary, arrange a conference with the teacher, who can explain to your child that homework is practice, not perfection. "Kids will often listen to a message from a teacher that they won't hear if it's from a parent," says Dr. Schumm.

Investigate Any Resistance

If, despite your best efforts, your child stubbornly refuses to do his homework, you need to get to the bottom of things. "It might seem like an attitude problem, but his reluctance may be a sign that he's having difficulty with the material," says Jed Baker, PhD, author of No More Meltdowns. Talk to his teacher about how he's doing in class; if he's struggling there too, he may need extra help in general. If he's simply homework-averse, try breaking up the assignment into smaller tasks and challenging him to get through at least one. "Once he reaches his initial goal, momentum might just carry him through to the end," says Dr. Baker.

Don't forget that all kids will be pleased to hear some heartfelt props for getting their work done. Your recognition of their effort -- even if it doesn't result in an "A" -- is the greatest incentive of all and a powerful way to communicate the importance of trying their best.

Early Education is the very vital in every human existence.

A teacher once told me that the most important part of learning is how it started or in short on how the foundation of education was built in the life of a person. It is the very essence on how a child will perform in his or her later years of learning.
My son just started schooling as a nursery student this year and with that I made it a point that his very first education will be done in a non pressure manner but at the same time a fruitful one.

The school I’ve chosen for him was the same school I attended when I was in my pre-elementary years. I opted to do that because I can be confident that the school he is in is giving him the right dose of learning. In every nursery class, they are only composing of 12 students per schedule. Fortunately, my son got in at a 8 am to 10 am sched which I may say is the most appropriate in preparation for his elementary schooling.

After every class, it is also a must that a parent should monitor and review his child with their subjects. For this has many advantages – one of which is if you teach your child at home, he can get use to the lessons and it will be easy for him to understand the subject. Plus you can teach your child beforehand so that he can have an advanced knowledge of each.
